Exploring the World

It was some time ago when I last wrote anything here - life has kept me busy but in the mean time Fangfang enjoyed her visit to Finland and was able to see Finland with her own eyes. I am pretty sure Finland left quite good impression after all. There wasn’t too cold weather, the whole Winter has been very warm and now it is already too late for Winter to come here; let’s just skip to Spring now.

While the work has been doing the good job on keeping me busy, I have been able to find some of the good ways to travel back to China. Flying is getting more and more expensive truly and flights to Asia have been running quite high all the time for some time now. It is of course partly because of the fact that people want and need to travel there - when there is demand, there is also no need to have discounts so much.

So I managed to book my first long-haul flights with Air China for the March trip. That will be interesting, so many things I haven’t done before or for a long time. For a long time I haven’t flown with Blue1 and generally I have been preferring Helsinki airport so this time I will be traveling from Tampere and to Stockholm. I haven’t done that for about a year now. And flying with Air China for a long-haul is something I haven’t done ever, just domestic flights in China. But the schedule is actually very good so it makes it quite perfect connection.

For April I managed to book the Valentine’s Day offer with SAS, instead of 80,000 points I just needed to pay 20,000 for the flights to China. And by booking them through Internet I managed to save additional 500 points. Sometimes the frequent flyer points actually come handy.

I am still in the process of getting my photos back online as I am trying to figure out the perfect way to present them. And also organize them actually to correct categories and so on.

Yeah, my luck again. Incoming flight from Beijing was delayed badly, they took an aircraft from Bangkok route to replace that one and to make sure that Beijing flight will depart in time. But now they are repairing the engine in that aircraft so Beijing flight is again delayed. Just my luck. Not going very well again but hopefully we will depart sometime later today.

Fireworks in the end of the day in DisneyLand

DisneyLand Hong Kong has fireworks in the end of the day and of course you need to see those if you are visiting the park. Have a look for the small video clip showing a part of the fantastic show. The fireworks were shooted to different parts of the sky so you had something happening all around you.

Hong Kong and British culture

It is funny how you experience Hong Kong. While the British have given the area to China you will experience the British culture here very strongly. This isn’t the China you experience in the mainland, some things are missing and some are replaced with Western style. Taxi drivers want to speak English with you for example. All the time I am feeling that I am in London instead, just that there more Chinese restaurants than in London. :-D So, Hong Kong isn’t China just like that, Hong Kong is Hong Kong and nothing else. It is a unique place.

Christmas is still here

Christmas is still here, at least in Hong Kong and Ocean Park. They run this light and music show lighting up the Christmas tree twice while we were queuing for the ice sculpture show.

Fog and flying

Fog is quite beautiful when you can observe it over the field in the early morning in the countryside. It makes everything so peaceful. And it also makes airports peaceful as you might have noticed from the news recently.

As usual, I joined many others and found out that my flight from Helsinki to London has been cancelled. I was supposed to fly this evening to London, stay overnight and continue tomorrow to Hong Kong. Now the new plan is to directly fly from Helsinki to Bangkok and then continue from there to Hong Kong. It was just that originally I chose the routing because I wanted to fly with Cathay Pacific and now I will be spending the first long flight with Finnair.

Most important thing is of course that I will be flying to Hong Kong anyway and I will get there so the holiday plans don’t change completely, just some extra steps to be taken compared to original plan.

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas

It is time for the traditional Christmas tree photo from my parent’s place. :-D I am currently already in Helsinki airport waiting for my flight, I will be spending Christmas time somewhere else than in Finland.

New design for Guess Who Am I blog

Today I enabled the new design for my blog; this design is especially designed only for this blog and is excellent work from yichi. Many plugins have been also updated along the process and some have been changed to completely new. New year is almost ready to begin and my blog is ready to start it too.
