Sacrifices and love

Sometime ago I wrote about perfect love and referred to an example in Kung Fu Hustle. Sometime earlier I actually found another good example, this time a music video.

If you prefer to have English subtitles, then there is another video in the YouTube, which has the subtitles included. The words do not actually fit to the video so perfectly, the idea behind in this post is actually the content of the video. Anyway, this is the video with English subtitles in YouTube.

Perfect love

I think I recently found a perfect example of perfect love. Well, it was in the movie so it is kind of fictional but it still describes it very well in my opinion.

Kung Fu Hustle describes the situation where young girl was saved from some bullies by one brave young boy and she remembers it forever. She has kept the lollipop, which the bullies tried to steal, in a box and she clearly tries to find her lost love. The boy has turned bad and is now himself bullying others. Still when the girl finally finds him, she believes in good side of him and after all there is a happy ending.

The movie uses an old mandarin classic “Zhi Yao Wei Ni Huo Yi Tian” from the 1970’s in all scenes where the boy and a girl meet each other during the movie. The song tells a story about a girl’s unforgettable memory of someone she once loved and finds herself wanting to live for him again, even for just one day. I think that constitutes very well as being the description of perfect love.

At least that is what I am looking for.

Life

I received the following poem months ago but I didn’t know that I will be reading it with different view few months later …

the furthest distance in the world
is not between life and death
but when i stand in front of you
yet you don’t know that
i love you

the furthest distance in the world
is not when i stand in front of you
yet you can’t see my love
but when undoubtedly knowing the love from both
yet cannot be together

the furthest distance in the world
is not being apart while being in love
but when plainly can not resist the yearning
yet pretending
you have never been in my heart

the furthest distance in the world
but using one’s indifferent heart
to dig an uncrossable river
for the one who loves you

the furthest distance in the world - Rabindranath Tagore (1861 - 1941)

This poem has been circulating the Internet many times already and it has been translated many times. I am not sure but this translation could be actually from Chinese to English and original wasn’t in Chinese … anyway … it is not about how it is translated to different languages and when but the true importance is the meaning inside, in the words.

Sometimes distance is too much … Unfortunately, I experienced that. At least I still have my memories.

Note: I posted this only after I felt that it is time to post this. I didn’t feel like that almost a month ago. That is the reason why it appeared suddenly just now in here and is dated to March 5th, 2007 while it is written almost a month later.

A month in my life

I have been quite busy lately. Xinyue was in Finland for one month and of course I wanted to take every possible freetime to spend with her. Also, in the office, I have been extremely busy. So many things are happening now at the same time that it just keeps me very busy during the days.

Xinyue enjoyed the time in Finland, we were actually also able to visit the Chinese New Year celebrations at the local university. And also we were able to spend some time in the countryside near Tampere as well time in Tampere area. There would have been so much to do but somehow the time just flew very fast. I guess it is true that time will fly when you are having fun.

She just flew to China yesterday and has arrived safely. Now there is again a distance between us in the form of physical distance and also a time difference. It will probably take some time to get used to that and remember that things are now again going to happen in two places across the world. I have to remember to start thinking about time difference.

Globalisation

It seems that pretty much everyone these days is talking about globalisation, whether it is a good or a bad thing. I myself actually think that it is the direction where we are going all the time. The world is becoming smaller and smaller. Every year you learn more about the world you haven’t known before and nowadays it seems that everyone knows someone on the other side of the world.

Globalisation also changes our view of the world - some of the people are afraid of change and some are just seeing the benefits. I am seeing it as a good change opening new possibilities and I have been watching how my industry has also been taking the steps in this field. At the same time globalisation has allowed us to start understanding the world in better way - not just financially but also from cultural point of view.

As some of you already know, my life has changed a little bit since last Spring. I magically came across with someone who shares the same kind of open mind with me. Who is not afraid to jump into the unknown and is not afraid to learning new and getting to know someone living on the other side of the globe. It is quite amazing to see how small world we are living in after all - suddenly you know someone from the other side of the world.

What you get when you combine two different cultures, distance, different experiences in life and love? You get something amazing and beautiful of course. I have always thought that there isn’t one side in anything - you need to combine several sides of the story to understand anything. That is the reason why combining two different cultures is actually very interesting. I have now been studying a small portion of Chinese culture and I still do not understand much. Everyday I encounter something new and it requires me to study it further to understand. Life is continuos learning.

Distance is a little bit of a challenge; of course travelling is fun and I still love aircrafts - even after I have had so bad luck with me. There is a time difference between Finland and China, which causes that you cannot always communicate very efficiently. Both of us are working hard and especially for me this Autumn has been challenging at the office (so stuff happening). But it is part of this phase now, everything will stabilise in the future.
