Flying and movies

Time to review some of the movies I watched while flying back to Europe.

What happens in Vegas: Actually very funny but also a bit serious movie about a couple who gets married by accident in Vegas and suddenly also gets rich by accident. And naturally when the bright daylight comes, the couple actually doesn’t like each other so much …

Waiting in Beijing: Interesting movie, an American is waiting an Iraqi girlfriend in Beijing but falls in love with the Chinese girl who actually helps him to relocate his Iraqi girlfriend. Sounds confusing? It wasn’t that confusing but actually very interesting. And I must say that the ending didn’t follow my expectations at all, or at least mostly it didn’t as I was expecting.

Kung Fu Hustle

This movie has waited for sometime for the best opportunity to watch on my PVR harddisk.

Kung Fu Hustle (功夫) is once again a wǔxiá genre film just like The White Dragon, which I watched last week.

Wǔxiá genre films have a distinguished characteristics and this particular film was known that it provides quite a different kind of movie experience compared to the popular films such as Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and Hero.

I liked this one very much, it is quite a different compared to The White Dragon, this one is definitely much more darker and serious compared to The White Dragon. But it provides some very astonishing visual effects and it keeps you busy while following the movie.

The White Dragon

I am just watching some movies from the television, what else would you do when it is cold and a bit rainy day?

The White Dragon (aka Fei Hap Siu Baak Lung, aka The Flying Heroine: Little White Dragon) is a movie from Hong Kong which combines comedy and action. It has some really funny scenes, which actually combine for example broadband Internet and McDonald’s into the ancient martial arts in the same movie.

This is different kind of movie and is actually very refreshing compared to many others, I previously managed to see the ending only from the same channel but now on the rerun I am able to watch the whole movie from the beginning.

Curse of the Golden Flower

I just finished watching Curse of the Golden Flower (满城尽带黄金甲) for the second time. The movie is a little bit complex by the plot and requires you to concentrate (or watch the movie for the several times) to get everything out of it but I think it is definitely worth it.

The movie is very rich in form of the costumes and colours and also contains some quite amazing action scenes. I highly recommend this movie. There is something fascinating in this movie, I am not totally sure what that is however.

Night At The Museum

Or evening in Helsinki and in the movies :)

The movie was actually very good – lots of action happening most of the time and still very funny. Who wouldn’t like to see a dinosaur … and a cute one

We were the third group to see this movie, only theater owners and press have seen this before this group where we were also included. And Fazer provided the chocolate bars and Ben & Jerry’s ice cream. Yummy.

I will not tell you more about the movie … it is going to promoted heavily in the next weeks and premier in Finland is 16/02. Go and watch it yourself.

Helsinki and movies

The weather turned to snowing again. And the premier of “Night At The Museum” movie is tonight and in Helsinki. The highway between Tampere and Helsinki was closed in the middle of the trip because of the accident but it caused only minor delay. We still arrived early … So typical for me. I am always early everywhere and then I have to figure out what to do with the spare time.

Summer is still here

Well, I have been a little bit lazy updating my blog. Nothing special has been happening, summer is still around here and we actually haven’t received very much rain lately. Yesterday the temperature was again around 25 Celsius degrees (77 Fahrenheit degrees) and we were able to enjoy the summer still while most of the people are now starting to return to the offices and workplaces.

The latest movies I have seen is The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, which is a movie containing quite simple plot but is surprisingly good. Reviewers actually didn’t like this movie but I did. It seems that most of the time I am quite different from the reviewers; I like movies, which they don’t.

Movie reviews

Latest movies I have seen during the past month.

Mission Impossible 3: Okay, definitely not the movie I would want to see again right away.

Da Vinci Code: A little bit of disappointment, from time to time a little bit boring. I think they didn’t get everything out of the story, they could have. Note: I haven’t read the book and I haven’t seen the documentaries. My friends have told me that if you have seen the documentaries then you are able to get a little bit more out of this movie.

Poseidon: Hmmm, confusing. The action started right away without too much details about the people on board. Then we saw different action scenes until the end. And they missed some of the moments when there would have been an opportunity for emotional scene (aka Titanic).

16 Blocks: Very good, quite dark but still a little bit hopeful. Maybe people can change? Definitely worth to watch.

Sky Captain

Yesterday I watched Sky Captain & the World of Tomorrow and it was very good film. I especially liked the 1930’s look and feel. The whole color scheme was looking just like old 1930’s films. The movie provided very good plot and very good jokes. Go see it if you haven’t already!

Saturday night

Today’s saldo: grocery shopping, dinner at American Diner, movie (The Terminal). The movie was actually surprisingly good, of course you have to forget some details; such as that JFK is not so cool airport after all … but if we forget those details and some others, then we can say that The Terminal was very good movie.

Tomorrow? Probably Sky Captain & the World of Tomorrow :)

Weather? Glad you asked … it is raining again and I just managed to wash my car :(

BTW, what is the deal with TV these days? Why there is nothing to watch on Saturday nights?
