Going to Chicago
I am currently on my way to Chicago, still at the gate but closer and closer to boarding time. This time I am taking direct flight from Helsinki to Chicago with American Airlines so let’s see how good it is.
Weather is another thing which is going to be interesting, according to the forecasts, it is going to be very hot in Chicago. At least for me. Let’s see if I am going to melt there.
At the park in the evening
We went to see what happens at the park when it gets a bit darker and temperature isn’t that high any longer.
In one corner there is dancing, in another corner badminton and taiji. Definitely not a park like in Finland.
On the other side of the world

Above is rough translation from a new Finnish song, which has been played quite often in radio these days. It is called Maailman toisella puolen and it is from a group called Haloo Helsinki! Somehow this exactly describes my life sometimes.
And once again, about this time I have started my voyage. First to Tampere, then to Helsinki and then soon … I will drink the last cup of coffee and I will look at Finland from the top of the clouds. This day will be very long as it starts so early and it will last longer than the day in Finland, I will be going to West.

My first flight for 2011 is about to depart.
How cool
How cool is this? Octoberfest beer with proper glass sold in a package at the airport shopping area. 
Some things still the same
I am flying with Austrian airlines to Prague via Vienna (flight operated by Tyrolean) and I am very happy to see that not all things get worse all the time when traveling.
Some magazines were offered on thus flight and those were nicely put inside plastic folder, quite nice idea making them last longer and easier to handle in the small airplane.
And there are still some drinks available and not just a boring can but a real bottle. How nice is that!
And when traveling, it is important to eat well. How about some chicken salad, shrimps with rice and nice traditional Austrian apple dessert? I am certainly happy that I didn’t choose one of those airlines, which make you pay for a sandwich.
Sugar

Foggy winter weather at the airport
Weather has warmed up again and some of the snow has melted. They are are forecasting more snow tomorrow but let’s see if it will come.

Beijing
Beijing is still more or less the same as in May when I was here last time. One difference is the upcoming National Day, which has changed city a bit. In Chang’an Avenue there is a police patrol, a SWAT patrol, an army patrol or combination of those all in every corner. Our hotel has also increased their security level by having both metal detector and X-Ray machines for incoming visitors. This is nothing new, similar was already happening during the Olympics and lately I have got used to that in my recent trip in Jakarta.
Weather is hot, for me at least. Others don’t exactly share my opinion but shouldn’t it be that during your Summer vacation it is hot? So this certainly feels like good Summer vacation weather.
